What should be considered when having a dental implant? The question comes to mind quite often. However, it is unfortunately not possible for individuals to have complete professional knowledge. Because dental implant treatment is a treatment with many variables. The most important factor in having too many variables is the necessity of using external materials. At this point, the most important point is the experience, knowledge and up-to-dateness of the doctor. Although dental implant operations have been made for more than 60 years, new developments are taking place every day.



What is a Screw Retained Implant Crown?



It is a prosthesis that is generally referred to as a "screwed tooth". In the screw system, the crowns made on the implant have tiny holes opened into the mouth ( these holes are closed with a suitable color filling). Produced prosthetic teeth are screwed into the implant through these holes or they can be removed from the implant when necessary.

How Long is The Dental Implant Healing Period Before Crown Placement?



It can take 3 to 6 months of waiting time before a crown placement on a dental implant. The suitability of the jawbone in the area to be implanted for the implant should be evaluated. Apart from the two-dimensional x-rays taken for this evaluation, if the doctor deems it necessary, 3-dimensional imaging (tomography) can also be used. 3D imaging provides a more detailed bone analysis.


The waiting period recommended by the doctor after the implant operation is important and must be strictly followed. This period may vary depending on the bone structure, type of operation, and implant characteristics


The type of prosthesis to be made after the required waiting period is also a factor in the success of the implant. Materials can be used in structures that vary according to the angle of the implant, its region, adjacent teeth, the habits of the individual, and the number of implants. Because in all cases, prosthesis cannot be made with every material.

Although a successful operation has been made, there is always the possibility of experiencing various problems. Having a problem does not always mean that there is an error in one of these points. A 100% medical treatment cannot be guaranteed in any procedure. However, planning these processes from the beginning usually prevents many problems.
