All on 4 - Summary

Four titanium implants can be used in this procedure to repair the whole dental arch. A need after many years of implant surgeries led to the comprehensive study that has proven the effectiveness of this procedure.

The all-on-four implant technique is special since it immediately gives the patient teeth. Usually one day after the implants are made, temporary teeth are fixed on them. If the circumstances are right, temporary teeth can be fixed to the implants as soon as the implant surgery is over and some special preparations have been made.

An article from 1990 introduced the idea of creating implant-supported prostheses on the same day. Dr. Paulo Malo successfully used the All-on-4 therapy idea on a patient for the first time in 1998. The All-on-4 concept has since been implemented and is still in use for hundreds of thousands of patients worldwide.

All on 4 - Breif Summary

  • Only 4 implants are required to create a single jaw with fixed teeth.
  • Two straight implants in the anterior and two tilted implants in the posterior are used.
  • By creating fixed temporary prosthesis, it soon assumes the function.
  • If all the prerequisites are satisfied, a temporary tooth can be attached to the implant in a few of days.
  • Individuals who match the quick loading criteria get their temporary teeth fixed as soon as feasible in the mouth.
  • Graft is not used in all on 4 technique.
  • Thicker bone tissue in the front is used by placing angled implants in the posterior area.

What are the phases of treatment with All-on-4?

The state of the mouth, teeth, gums, and jaws as well as the appropriateness of the procedure are first assessed for patients whose All-on-4 treatment concept is planned using radiography and intraoral inspection.

The state of the mouth, teeth, gums, and jaws as well as the appropriateness of the procedure are first assessed for patients whose All-on-4 treatment concept is planned using radiography and intraoral inspection.

Three steps make up an All-on-4 procedure: surgery, temporary teeth, and a permanent dental prosthesis.

Temporary teeth are produced using the impression taken and fastened on the implants after four implants have been placed in the designated sites during the surgical stage. Temporary teeth are removed after tree months, and new impressions are used to create permanent teeth.

Is All on Four Recovery Very Painful ?

Conditions like discomfort, edema, and bruising may develop following each implant procedure. The meds your doctor will provide and the suggestions you make, however, can readily control these issues.

Can the All on 4 approach be used on any type of bone structure?

Not every person with a bone structure can receive the All on 4 treatment.

One of the reasons it isn’t used is that 4 implants might not be enough to support a full jaw, particularly in people with thinner bone than ideal. Another example is when the jaws' closing connection is not as ideal. Your doctor will assess each circumstance, let you know the results, and if necessary, plan for alternative implant treatments.

When can i use my temporary teeth after All-on-four treatment?

Following the All on 4 procedure, you can immediately use the fixed dentures. However, you should eat in accordance with the dietary guidelines established by your doctor throughout the 4-month period, which is the fusion phase of the implants with the jawbone. You can use your permanent prosthesis to eat whatever you want after four months.
