Occlusal Screw

Occlusal screw is used more and more in the world due to some positive features compared to the old-style implant-supported prostheses.

There are many types of prosthetic teeth (crown) made on dental implants. These differences vary according to the materials used in the production of the crown on the implant, the parts used to fix the prosthesis on the implant, and whether the prosthesis is cemented or screwed. Which type of prosthesis will be used is generally determined by the type of implant used, the opposite-adjacent teeth, the number of prosthetic teeth to be made, and the prosthetic systems dominated by the physician. Because some systems need to be planned correctly starting from the operation so that the prosthesis system planned at the beginning can be achieved at the end time.

Oklüzal Vidalı İmplant Üstü Protez Nedir?

It is a prosthesis that is generally referred to as a "screwed crown". In the screw system, the crowns made on dental implant have tiny holes opened into the mouth ( these holes are closed with a suitable color filling). Produced prosthetic teeth are screwed into the implant through these holes or they can be removed from the implant when necessary.

Neden Vidalı Diş?

  • Its greatest advantages are the ease of fixing and removing it on the implant. However, no matter how sensitively cemented (bonding) teeth are fixed, it is not always possible to completely clean the adhesives from the tissues. There may be areas that are overlooked or not felt. In this case, it may increase the possibility of a loss in the implant and bone. In addition, cemented teeth are difficult to remove. And there is a high probability of breaking when removing it. Screw threads, on the other hand, can be easily removed and repositioned on the implant by removing the filling material placed in the screw holes. In some screwed dental systems, bonding is performed, but after this bonding process, the prosthesis can be removed from the mouth and the implant area can be easily cleaned.
  • In case of any problem that may occur in the prosthesis (breakage, breakage in porcelain, etc.), screwed prostheses can be easily removed and repaired.
  • In case of changes that may occur in the side teeth in screwed crowns, the screwed crown can be easily removed from its place and re-contoured and placed in its place.
  • It is possible to make more teeth by using a small number of implants in screwed prosthesis systems. The most successful example of this is the “All on 4” system, which has been in use for 30 years. In the "All on 4" system, if the bone and tissues meet the conditions, it is possible to make a single jaw completely toothed with a screwed prosthesis made on 4 implants.
  • The problem of screw loosening in the screw system can be easily solved by removing the filling material used to close the screw holes. However, in cemented systems, it takes a lot of effort to remove the distorted prosthesis. And so there is a greater chance of complications. It is possible to clean the bottom of the screwed teeth by removing them from the mouth from time to time.

Do Screwed Crowns have Difficulties?

  1. Screwed crown systems are highly sensitive operations. For this reason, it is necessary to take very precise impressions and a very sensitive laboratory work.
  2. They are not always applicable. The decision to make a screwed crown is made by the doctor.
  3. In some systems, there are special parts placed during the implant operation, so it is possible to prolong the operation for an average of 3-4 minutes.
  4. It is slightly more costly than cemented teeth as more different and sensitive parts are used.
